October Food Truck: Building Relationships
God can and does work miracles through local churches linked together for the sake of loving their communities and introducing them to Jesus. This happened at our October food truck, where we were blessed with the opportunity to partner with New Hope Lutheran Church to help care for our neighbors as followers of Jesus.
James 2:15-17 “Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
Ottawa Door Lights of Zeeland, Michigan sponsored our October Food Truck. They actually have sponsored several trucks over the years, together with bringing almost 40 volunteers to serve that day. Their mission at ODL is ‘making people’s lives better’, and I can say without a doubt, they made this happen.
An ODL volunteer, while helping to carry out food for one of our guests, discovered that their car battery was dead. He not only helped get their car running, he drove them down the street to purchase and install a new battery and fill their tank with gas. He was so thankful for the opportunity to be able to help and bless this family. He truly gave them the gift of walking with them through this problem, with dignity and care.
We will continue to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus, not only by giving them food to take home, but through caring conversations and a listening ear and inviting them to entrust themselves and their concerns to Him in prayer.
Our New Podcast
Even in our busiest times, God is there to speak to us if we are willing to listen. We recognized that even though people can’t always get to church on Sunday, it doesn’t mean that they don’t want to dedicate time to God. Instead of causing more stress, we started offering a podcast.
Many times, throughout the bible and even in current places around the world, a church is not a dedicated building to attend. It is hidden cellars, houses, streets and cars. It is a gathering of people or sometimes just one person, spending time with our Father.
Technology has been a blessing. We offer a podcast, an audio recording that’s accessible online, that gives us the ability to listen to sermons and bible studies at times that, without it, we would instead have to miss out. Even as the world gets faster, busier and crazier; God is there to be the calm, peace and sanctuary.
We hope that this new addition to our church helps you find sanctuary in your life beyond our walls and helps you build a stronger relationship with God.

In October, the 55+ Adult Ministry team delivered mum plants to all our homebound members.
These beautiful fall flowers and visits were a blessing, not only to those who received them, but also to those that delivered them. Hearts were warmed, and those that delivered were thankful for taking the time out of their schedules to deliver and share the love of Christ with these dear members of Holy Cross.
One person who delivered shared, “My visit with Linda reminded me of what a strong Christian solider she is and how I want to emulate the kindness and generosity she always shares with others.”
It truly is more blessed to give than receive.
