Today we celebrate the Epiphany of our Lord. Long ago God caused men to follow a star from a distant country to the home of baby Jesus. These gentile foreigners came to worship Him. For this reason Epiphany is also called the “Gentile Christmas.” As gentile Christians we also come to worship Him who is born the King of the world. Epiphany means to “reveal” or “make known” so it is also a season that is identified with light. He comes like a bright light into the darkness. We celebrate the coming of Jesus who reveals God’s truth to men. Jesus, the light of the world, makes known the love of God. Today, God still draws men, women, and children to worship Jesus with their whole heart! Read Isaiah 60:1-6, Ephesians 3:1-12, and Matthew 2:1-12.
