Who is behind Jenison Serve?

Some locally-minded people that want our local community to feel like home for everyone.  We think that by making one another aware of the needs, we’ll be able to partner in caring for one another and everyone will be better off in the end…those who are serving together and those who are served.

Family Night with a Jenison Serve Project

On Friday, October 6 our Young Families enjoyed a fun night of food, fellowship and service.  11 families started the evening with a delicious meal followed by fellowship time with other parents and kids.  We ended the evening with a Jenison Serve opportunity, partnering with Hand2Hand Ministry by packing 150+ snack packs that will be placed in backpacks to be taken home over the weekend. It was a great evening of coming together and serving our local community and what a blessing it was seeing our children serving other children.  Please join us for our next Family Night on January 12.

500th Anniversary of the Reformation Worship Service

On October 15th, 160 people from Holy Cross joined 14,000+ Lutherans from across Michigan to worship at the Breslin Center in East Lansing and celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation.  The place was packed!  Singing 14,000 voices strong was breath-taking.  The message was inspirational! We were reminded of how God helps us STAND on His Word and were encouraged to dream again about what God will do through us as that same Word tells us to “GO”.

October Youth Retreats – Life Impact

A lot can take place in under 48 hours on a retreat! Friendship and faith can both be strengthened in amazing ways. Our Confirmation students enjoyed an amazing weekend at Camp Arcadia for their retreat. Students got to dive into God’s word, worship, games and safely into Lake Michigan!

Our High school students participate in a fall service retreat in Detroit. Students spent a cold Saturday working to gut a 1917 built apartment complex. This will eventually be a house for women leaving the sex trafficking industry. Along with service there was time in God’s word, worship, and fellowship with students from Troy.

Thank you to all the adult leaders who helped these events be a success!

Selah {night of praise + prayer}

- Reformation Hymn Sing

On October 29, people of all ages gathered together in the Mission Hall and sang hymns and spent time in prayer together.   One person who attended shared with us, “I've only attended Selah 3 times but each time it was a soul moving experience!  I loved the new location.  It was much more intimate and really enhanced the experience.”  While these hymns were done in a contemporary style it helped us remember where we've come in the last 500 years to where we are now.  The Gospel remains the same - Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever!

We hope you can join us for our next Selah on December 10, where we will sing Christmas songs!  Come join us to 'pause + reflect' and more deeply connect with God and His body of believers!
